LEADERSHIP CHANGE IN THE CASINO REGULATORY AUTHORITY OF SINGAPORE

Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Lau Peet Meng, 36, will be appointed as the Chief Executive of the Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore (CRA) with effect from 15 June 2011. He is currently the Senior Director of the Policy & Operations Division in the Ministry of Home Affairs.



2. Current Chief Executive of CRA, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. T. Raja Kumar, will return to the Singapore Police Force where he will be appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (Policy).



3. Mr. Raja Kumar was appointed as Chief Executive of the CRA on 10 April 2008. As the CRA’s first Chief Executive, he took on a pioneering role and successfully saw through key milestones, such as the formation of the CRA as a Statutory Board and the conceptualization, development and successful implementation of Singapore’s casino regulatory framework.



4. A handing over of leadership ceremony will be held on 15 June 2011. More details would be released nearer the date.

Lau Peet Meng

Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Lau Peet Meng (刘įŽ”明), 36, was awarded the Singapore Police Force Overseas Scholarship in 1994. He graduated from Yale University with Double Honours in Political Science and International Studies in 1997 and went on to pursue a Master’s degree in International Relations at the University of Cambridge in 1998. He also holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University (Sloan Fellow).



2. He was the Commander of Central Police Division before his current appointment as Senior Director of Policy & Operations Division, MHA. During his tenure as Commander, he set up the Marina Bay Neighbourhood Police Centre and led the Division to maintain law and order in downtown Singapore. As Senior Director of Policy & Operations Division, he oversaw the crafting of key policies for the Ministry, including matters relating to casino regulation.
