CASINO REGULATORY AUTHORITY TO COLLABORATE WITH NUS TO CONDUCT JOINT RESEARCH ON CASINO GAMING IN SINGAPORE

The Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore (CRA) will collaborate with the National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Mathematics and Department of Statistics and Applied Probability to promote joint research and development activities in
the area of mathematical research relating to casino gaming.
2. Chief Executive, CRA Mr. T. Raja Kumar and Dean, NUS Faculty of Science, Professor Andrew Wee signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the 2nd CRA Gaming Technology Forum. The signing was witnessed by industry partners, comprising gaming manufacturers,
suppliers and testing laboratories.
3. The MOU establishes a framework for greater collaboration between CRA and NUS in joint research projects on mathematical algorithms used in the gaming industry, especially in the area of gaming integrity. It also allows the CRA to tap on the expert
views of mathematics professionals at NUS in areas relating to the specialist field of gaming mathematics.
4. Speaking at the MOU signing, Mr. T. Raja Kumar said, “Our MOU with NUS is a significant milestone and marks the first MOU that CRA is signing with a local strategic partner. CRA has been tapping on the expertise of the NUS Department of Mathematics
and Department of Statistics and Applied Probability in the specialist field of gaming mathematics. Such knowledge is essential for CRA’s work in safeguarding the integrity of gaming in Singapore’s casinos. We are pleased to cement this
partnership with the NUS Department of Mathematics and Department of Statistics and Applied Probability with this MOU, which will take us to the next level of collaboration. It also represents CRA's continual efforts to deepen our knowledge and enhance
our regulatory oversight of Singapore’s casinos.”
5. “This collaboration with CRA will allow the NUS Department of Mathematics and Department of Statistics and Applied Probability to undertake joint research projects in the area of performance of mathematical analysis into different gaming models
and types of games. We look forward to working closely with the CRA in this area. Our students will also benefit from opportunities for them to be attached to the CRA,” said Professor Wee.
