The Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore (CRA) will be convening its inaugural International Advisory Panel meeting from 25 - 27 August 2009. The Panel will discuss and share their insights on the global trends in the casino industry and provide advice to the CRA on regulatory issues. This will help CRA enhance its regulatory regime and better prepare itself for the opening of the casinos in Singapore.

2. The two Panel members are Mr. Peter Dean and Mr. David Ford.

3. Mr. Peter Dean joined the United Kingdom Gaming Board in 1998. He subsequently oversaw the establishment of the United Kingdom Gambling Commission and served as the Commission's Chairman until December 2007. Before his appointment as Chairman, Mr Dean had a distinguished legal career of more than 40 years in both the private and public sectors in the United Kingdom. In 2006, he was recognised as the International Masters of Gaming Law 2006 Regulator of the Year. Mr. Dean was also the Chairman of the International Association of Gaming Regulators from 2001 to 2002.

4. Mr. David Ford is the Deputy Director-General, Liquor, Gaming, Racing and Fair Trading, and Commissioner for Fair Trading in Queensland's Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation. Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Ford was the Deputy Under Treasurer of the Queensland Treasury since August 2005. He was also the former Executive Director of the Queensland Office of Gaming Regulation from 1993 and was involved in the licensing and opening of the Brisbane and Cairns casinos. Mr Ford was the Chairman of the International Association of Gaming Regulators from 2005 to 2006.
